Many students, whether because
they are brushing up semi-forgotten skills or
because they feel safer listening than talking, tend not make the most
out of
their opportunities to engage in French conversation or participate
in a discussion
when abroad or in a group, even when their French is really very good.
Why?
At the beginning of last year I decided to set up a series of sessions
aimed at getting people
together to overcome their natural reticence at speaking in front of
a group and join
forces with other learners to share experiences of French life and learning
the language,
whilst learning the kind of phraseology and practising the listening
and speaking skills
that make piping up in French less of a 'butterflies in the stomach'
experience!
The sessions proved a great
success so now I run regular 6-week blocks of sessions aimed
at those who have been speaking French or used to do so on a regular
basis at a decent
intermediate to advanced level - click to read
